How the paycheck calculator works
Annual federal tax is computed after the standard deduction and pre-tax deductions, then FICA (6.2% Social Security up to the wage base plus 1.45% Medicare) and a flat state rate are subtracted. The result is divided by pay periods.
Example
Using the default inputs (Annual salary: $80,000; Pay frequency: Biweekly; Filing status: Single; 401(k) contribution: 6%; Health premium per paycheck: $120; โฆ), the calculator returns take-home per paycheck of $2,151. Change any field above to see your own result and charts update instantly.
